Enjoy the Poem of Living Jazz Legend Bertha Hope : "SILENCE YOUR BONES"
Silence Your Bones - by Bertha Hope
Silence your bones in this enclosed space. Take a deep breath.
Deeper than that. And drink in, in the safety of this loving place,
the presence of women delivering their messages of women ways and women skin,
women words, women melody, women flesh, women old and women older.
Lady Got Chops after lady does laundry, the cleaning, the cooking, the shopping,
the planning, earning the degree, changing the job, earning the money,
changing the baby, going back to school, in no particular order, and Lady Got Chops.
Not all ladies do all that, but all ladies do some of that.
And Lady Got Chops womenstyle making good times roll by,
inventing pleasure out of pain.
Silence your bones and let these women have their blues with you.
Sweeten your tea with their grace. And drink in.
Dare to be transformed in this hour we share together.
Silence your bones in this enclosed space.
